The Development and Effectiveness of Non-face-to-face Self-regulation Training Program for Student-athletes

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to develop a non-face-to-face self-regulation training program for middle and high school student-athletes through the conduct group online video counseling session, as well verify effectiveness such tool. METHODS Based on models Zimmerman(2000) Han Si-wan (2008), 12-session consisting interactions involving cognitive, emotional, behavioral factors developed used 16-member experimental group. Additionally, mental toughness questionnaires were given each member before after program, results compared with 17-member control Since qualitative evaluation conducted, recorded contents organized into text file; which, step-by-step coding procedure performed, then meanings themes identified categorized. RESULTS Quantitative analysis found that volitional inhibition mode decreased significantly; in comparison increase In addition, among seven sub-factors strength test group, significant post-test self-belief, attention control, emotional regulation, resilience, optimism factors. As result data analysis, they complained difficulties early stages participation, but gradually recognized their problems searched changes, showed changes cognition, emotion, behavior approached end period. CONCLUSIONS It can be said helped student athletes improve life performance by driving positive changes.
